Solid wood first, shingles second
We repair and replace rotten roof decking, sheathing and fascia boards as part of roofing work across Dawson Creek and the South Peace. It's the one part of your roof nobody can see from the ground, and it's the reason wood repairs are priced on our estimates before a single shingle comes off.
Rot doesn't fix itself, and shingles nailed into soft wood don't hold. When a tear-off shows us bad sheathing, we stop being roofers and start being carpenters until the deck is solid again. Then the new shingles go onto wood that can actually carry them.
Ken's triple-layer rebuild
Ken's roof had been leaking for years, and he just wanted it fixed. When we stripped the first layer of shingles, we found a second complete roof underneath. Under that one, a third, with rotten wood all the way down. Tom and Chris switched to full carpenter mode.
We rebuilt enough of the structure to run proper sheathing and match the rest of the roof, and replaced all the fascia boards while we were at it. What started as a re-roof became a structural rebuild, and now Ken has a house that looks great and won't leak again. The full story is on our reviews page.

How we handle bad wood
Price it before we find it
Wood repairs are one of only four possible extras, and the cost is on your estimate before tear-off starts. No mid-job renegotiation.
Open the roof and get honest
Tear-off shows us the whole deck. We photo-document what we find, so you see what we see.
Carpenter mode
Rot gets cut out, structure gets rebuilt where it needs it, and new sheathing ties into the rest of the roof properly. Fascia boards come with the roofline when they're done too.
Then, and only then, the roof
Underlayment, triple waterproofing at the leak points, and shingles with six nails each go onto wood that can hold them.
What we fix under and around the shingles
- Rotten sheathing. Cut out, replaced and tied into the rest of the deck properly.
- Structural repairs. When rot goes past the sheathing, we rebuild what's needed, like we did for Ken.
- Fascia boards. Replaced along your roofline during roof projects.
- Shiplap and old layers. Named on the estimate up front with their cost, never a surprise invoice.

Decking and sheathing questions
How do I know if my roof deck is bad?
Sagging lines along the roof, stains in the attic, or a spongy feel underfoot are the usual signs. The honest check happens at tear-off, which is why wood repair pricing is on your estimate before we start.
Do you match the existing wood?
Yes. On Ken's rebuild we reconstructed enough of the structure to run proper sheathing and match the rest of the roof. Patchwork that doesn't tie in isn't a repair, it's a future leak.
What does wood repair cost?

Do you replace fascia boards on their own?
We replace fascia as part of roof projects, like we did across Ken's whole roofline. For standalone soffit, fascia and gutter work, we'll point you to Summit Roofing, a partner we trust with our own projects.
Do you replace the whole deck every time?
No. We cut out what's rotten, rebuild what the structure needs, and tie new sheathing into the sound wood around it. You pay for what your roof needs, not a blanket rule.
